Species, grade and finish

White oak, red oak, hickory, walnut and maple, in widths from a traditional two-and-a-quarter strip to a generous seven-inch plank. Grade sets how much character comes through — knots, mineral streak, natural color variation. Finish sets how the floor ages: a matte hardwax oil wears softly and can be spot-repaired, while a factory aluminum-oxide urethane offers exceptional hardness and easy upkeep.
